NOVAPLUS, Novation’s Private Label Brand Launches New Graphics and Labeling for All Pharmacy Products

New labeling raises the bar on patient safety and the quality of care

The issue of label mix-up and medication errors is a key concern for healthcare providers across the country. Medication errors are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in hospital patients. To improve patient safety and the quality of care, NOVAPLUS, Novation’s private label brand of pharmacy and medical-surgical products, today unveiled its new graphics and labeling for all pharmacy products. The NOVAPLUS pharmacy labeling system incorporates enhancements developed in cooperation with Novation suppliers, health care organizations and industry clinical experts.

The fresh NOVAPLUS labels feature four distinct layouts and numerous options for differentiation. The new labels feature an entirely remodeled color palette. NOVAPLUS also incorporated larger and more pronounced drug names and strengths into the design layout. Universal bar codes, expiration dates, quantities and National Drug Code (NDC) numbers are easy to read and find.

“The NOVAPLUS pharmacy labeling system is a key vehicle for communicating our shared commitment to patient safety, quality, value and availability,” said Brent Gee, Senior Director, NOVAPLUS Brand Management.

The new labeling will be phased in as new products enter the NOVAPLUS brand and as inventories are depleted and new lots are manufactured.

NOVAPLUS, Novation’s private label brand of pharmacy and medical-surgical products, delivers the best financial value for VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista, LLC members on the most frequently-purchased commodity products.  Originally founded in 1985 as VHAPLUS, the private label currently includes more than 1,100 products with annual purchases of $1.4 billion.
